Support Group

Has anyone had any luck with finding a local support group for people with loved ones in a nursing home?

I would like to find one too.  Everytime I tell someone that my mother is in a nursing home, they say the meanest things.  I took care of her for years.  Now she needs acute care because she had a large stroke and continues having small ones.  She had six serious progressive health issues before having a stroke.  Help!  I don't know what to say to people when they shoot out those nasty little remarks in public and it's not the time, or place to respond.

I haven't found one yet but that would definitely be helpful.  Most people with relatives living in nursing homes probably are facing similar problems and it would help if they can have someone to talk things over with.

I'm also looking for one and I think that's the best way people like us can cope up with the demands and responsibilities of having a loved one in a nursing home. It would be a great help since you can vent and perhaps ask for a piece of advice from people who know a lot of things regarding this situation. I wish someone can find this thread and recommend a great support group.
