When looking for a nursing home I would review medicare's website www.medicare.gov/NHCompare/home.asp to read more on a particular nursing home. If the review is satisfactory I would visit the nursing home at least twice. I would schedule the visits on different days and at different times. I would also drive by at odd times like maybe 7 or 8pm and the weekend. |

Good idea. When I was looking for a nursing home I would also go at odd hours to get a better feel for the facility.

I didn't have alot of time when I put my mom in a nursing home so I put her in one that was close to me. I sometimes wonder if I should have spent more time researching. I've visited a few other nursing homes to compare after the fact and I really didn't see that much of a difference. My mom seems to be attached now to some of the residents so I don't plan on moving her.

Dont visit nursing home at operational visit hours, visit at some odd time and day will clear everything about nursing home.

I have just noticed the above link to the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) which no longer exists and has been replaced by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which is essentially the same Government body, but with a new name. I have found the following resource online (link below), which is free to use and shows all nursing homes on a Google map, which is useful for determining how many nursing homes are in close proximity to where you live. I was really pleased with Sunrise Senior Living. They have all sorts of living options that you can choose from. I think that it is so important to make sure that you are familiar with a senior living facility or nursing home's offerings before you commit or commit a loved one to living there. It's important to do your research and make sure the facility you end up choosing is right for you or your loved one. |

Other sites also offers some useful forums and blogs and some sites had all the links wherein you can study the nursing homes they offer. Good luck to your search. I've visited a few other nursing homes to compare soon after the actuality and I seriously did not see that considerably of a distinction. My mom appears to be attached now to a number of the citizens so I will not system on shifting her. Serrapeptase |

i fully agreed with you..
Last month my mother was very ill but thanks to nursing homes and their stuff. They gave excellent care to my beloved mother. I was very relaxed for my peace of mind. I really appreciate to those who are working for nursing homes.
