When visiting my mom I found that one of the most enjoyable activities is looking at pictures. I recently bought her a digital picture frame and loaded it with several pictures. When I visit her we flip through them and have a good laugh  . I loaded it with a mix of old and recent pictures and this is much more convenient compared to lugging in several photo albums. Anyone else have any other tips? |

My mom and I had a really good visit the other day. Her roommate was not in the room so we watched a movie on TV together which is also a nice way to spend time together.

Good tips. Another thing that my mom and I do is play cards. She is confined to a bed but she can use her hands so we play spades or blackjack.

It is nice to read a spiritual book or a novel to the person if they are unable to communicate. I have also read work which is self serving but I do think that the person's spirit is aware of your presence so it is nice to spend time with them.

Invite resident's friends and family to visit. Having visitors showering attention on them passes time quickly and pleasantly. As an added bonus, the attendants also get a break for a short while to take care of themselves.

The nursing home can be such an unpleasant experience sometimes. I think bringing a picture book is a great idea! We noticed that my grandma was playing with our keys or wallets, whatever we had in our hands, so we brought her a purse with some stuff in it. I bear in mind browsing my wife's mother. We constantly appear all-around dinner time. We'll also appear at images, tell stories that is like some sort of catching up. Cheers to your excellent occasions. GUGGUL |

Hi all, I think there can be a different ways by which you can spend quality time with your mom. it depends on purely what she likes and inside which she can find her happiness although I think taking out from nursing home for just some time can be a good idea too as it will refresh mom's mind and let her feel that you will be always with her.

Visiting them as often as you can and doing new activities each will be beneficial for both of you. But even a simple chat to catch up on your lives is already enjoyable enough. It is always about the time spent together that matters.

This is a great way to bond with your loved ones especially if you can't visit them often. At least you can make the most of your time while you're there, you can share a good laugh with them and make them feel that they still matter to you. It's good to do activities with them once in a while, just to give them variety and to keep their loneliness at bay.

Anyone else have any other tips? Your presence at their place is the best gift for your elders. You can make your visit very precious just doing things, which they like. You should know, what are their hobbies? If they like books, then collect a book of their favorite writer. If they love to play games plan their favorite game, watch movie or television serial with them. It can be a way of interesting visit. |
