My mom has been doing very well lately since we moved her to the new nursing home.  When I look back and reflect on our situation we have come a long way in less than a year.  At her old home we would often get surprise invoices for medicine.  One time we even got a bill for eye drops that were over $120.  This is very hard on us since my mom is a private pay resident. The new medicines that we would need were in part due to the poor care she was receiving.

Now that we have moved her she is doing much better due to the better care and we are no longer getting surprise bills for medicine that we did not authorize.  On top of that we are saving about $1000 per month.  So I would tell everyone that is in a similar situation with a loved one in a nursing home, stay optimistic and vigilant.  You have the power to improve your situation.

Hi Big J, after receiving your post i also thinks that your are right because success of a nursing homes depends on purely their management and planning and after reading your post i am sure that the old home was lacking in both in which your mother had lived in past.
Thanks a lot to God that your mother is now feeling better.

That's good to hear.  People must really be aware of such things that happen in nursing homes.  You can always move your loved one to another better facility if such need arises.

Nice to hear that your mom is doing good now and you're saving a substantial amount of money. Your experience only shows that nothing beats the care that you can give to your mom and the comfort that a home can give. I just hope everything will go well for the both of you in the future.
